Using social bookmarks
US nonprofit blogger Emily explains how VCOs can use social bookmarking to understand how the public describe (or tag) their organisation and cause, and to find potential supporters.
A nonprofit can use social bookmarking by bookmarking their organization site, blogs, and other related sites about their issue. Then they can see if any users have already bookmarked their sites and what tags they use. From there they can view a tag stream to find new resources.
Emily takes the reader through how to do this using delicious and technorati.
I recently started using delicious to organise the sites I find interesting or useful during the ICT Foresight project but have yet to exploit social bookmarking to search for information - its a steep learning curve!
